Facebook Places Privacy
So, with all this new Facebook Places stuff you might be concerned about your privacy and people seeing your location. Well we’ve got the lowdown for you on this. Don’t worry, you can hide your location altogether, or at least control who sees it.
Here’s how you get to the Facebook Places privacy control screen.
- Login to Facebook
- In the upper right corner of the page click on the Account menu
- Click Privacy Settings
- Click the last section, Custom
- You’ll then see a screen that looks like this
- Click Customize Settings
- There are two options you should be most concerned with here, who can see where you check in and whether or not your friends can check you in. Yes, Facebook has an option that allows your friends to check you in at places….that’s kinda creepy huh?
- QC Total Tech recommends setting the Places I check In To to Friends Only and the Friends can check me into places to Disabled
Here’s a screenshot of the privacy settings

I do not want Twitter or others posting from the page that is not My Wall.
I am a public entity, worldwide, but only My Wall should be viewable.
I do not see an instruction to assure this. How can I do it?

Your wall is a different set of privacy settings. You will need to look at your “Application” settings and see what each application is pulling from your profile. You will also want to make sure the settings in the above screenshots are set to show the right things to trusted people. By default I don’t allow applications to do anything with my wall and only allow friends to view my profile, photos, etc. I don’t even allow “Friends of Friends” its a good practice.
