7 Years in Business
By: Jason Howell
2012 marks our 7th year in business. What a trip it’s been! To quote Jerry Garcia “…lately it occurs to me, what a long strange trip it’s been.” Sometimes, Jerry was just spot on. I think its important to understand where you came from. When we started back in 2005 it was common to receive large data by mail on CD, get an e-mail from an AOL account and find a business on GeoCities. We also didn’t text message that often, not everybody’s phone supported it, nor did most know it existed.
Here’s a quick run down of the big products and services that didn’t exist when we started
- Mainstream social media
- YouTube
- FourSquare
- SmartPhones (such as iPhone and Android)
- Netbooks with integrated cellular connections
- Bing
All of these services are now a mainstay in today’s modern computing world. So much has changed. The technology and capabilities have changed so much over the last 7 years and these new capabilities have allowed us to do so much for our clients. We’ve continued to adapt and improve ourselves, staying current with today’s tech and constantly refining our offerings. When you work in the web development industry you have to constantly adapt and evolve, I believe this has been the key to our survival. This company was started with $50.00 and a vision. Today we are one the most successful web marketers (we don’t even say developer now) in the Quad City area and have constructed over 90 web sites and web services. There have been many web firms come and go since our inception, its a hard business to be in.
When we started we provided technical support services with servers, networks and desktops along with web design…but we saw a niche and we “followed the market”, now here we are. We love what we do and we’re passionate about it, like any start-up company we’ve had our triumphs and tragedies, in the end we always come out brighter and even more prepared for the next challenge. It is really almost funny to look back at when we started to see what we offered, what we offer now and where the industry has taken us. I can only imagine what the next 7 years will bring.
Happy Webbing.
